As part of Care’s project supporting ethnic minority women entrepreneurs, the Northwest Development Cooperation Center (TABA) was selected as a consulting partner. In early 2020, TABA organized a training course on Marketing and Social Media (SM) for ethnic minority women in Cao Bang.
The training took place from January 5 to 11, 2020, in Thanh Cong commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province. A total of 35 women living and running businesses in the local area participated.
TABA sent marketing and social media communication experts to provide hands-on training and guidance. Based on the actual skill levels of the women in Thanh Cong, the instructors designed lessons to be simple, visual, and engaging. The practical sessions were detailed and followed a “hands-on” approach.
Over the seven days of training, the participants were fully engaged, lively, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. The sessions provided an opportunity for the women to share their business experiences and learn from both experts and each other. In the final two days, participants showcased their business products and practiced creating marketing and communication plans on social media for their products. While the women actively learned and discussed, the experts provided enthusiastic support.
By the end of the course, over 80% of the participants had grasped the skills needed to develop marketing plans and became proficient in using popular social media platforms in Vietnam, such as Facebook, Zalo, and YouTube, for product promotion and sales. TABA will continue to offer online consulting support to the production groups in Cao Bang for the first year as they apply their newfound knowledge.
