WHERE WE WORK
Hoang Lien National Park is located in Lao Cai province in Northwest Vietnam and contains Vietnam’s highest peak, Fansipan. The national park was declared in 2002 and is one of the most important biodiversity areas in Northwest Vietnam, contributing to ecosystem preservation and local economic development.
WHO WE WORK WITH
The buffer areas around Hoang Lien National Park are home to many of Vietnam’s ethnic minority communities. These communities rely on development of ecotourism in the national park to contribute to their livelihoods.
WHAT WE DO
TABA is actively assisting the management and staff of the national park, and the local communities to increase the ecotourism capacity and contribute to sustainable business development in the Hoang Lien National Park. The European Union has provided generous support for the work being undertaken by TABA.
In particular, we are raising awareness of how important biodiversity is to tourism activities in the national park. The communities that live around and work in the national park are gaining a common understanding of sustainable ecotourism in development.
An ecotourism development plan will be developed that will provide a long term direction for the National Park.
