Learning About Organic Farming with TABA and the People of Phu Mau Village

From October 9-11, the The Northwest Cooperation and Development Center and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Van Ho organized a training session on organic agriculture for 31 households in Phu Mau village. This event was not only an opportunity for the villagers to gain technical knowledge but also to rediscover the potential of organic farming, a practice their ancestors followed for generations.

Vi Thanh Lam, the president of the Commune Farmers’ Association, shared: “Supporting the villagers of Phu Mau in transitioning to organic agriculture is also a goal that I and the Association aim to achieve in the coming phase. The locality eagerly anticipates and supports learning programs for the villagers to enhance their experience and expertise.”

This training activity marks the beginning of a journey where TABA, the PGS Van Ho management board, the Farmers’ Association, and the Women’s Union of Chieng Yen commune will accompany the people of Phu Mau village. The Phu Mau PGS group will expedite subsequent activities with the 31 households to develop an implementation plan.

Organic green tea and red peanuts are the two main products expected to be developed at Agritage+ Phu Mau. Production Group No. 1 of Phu Mau village will be supported by TABA Center to enhance their operational capacity and work directly with partner businesses.

Stay tuned with us and look forward to the organic tea and red peanuts from Production Group No. 1 of Phu Mau village being certified and launched into the market!
